TrichoStem® Hair Regeneration typically requires only 1–2 sessions to achieve optimal results. Most patients experience noticeable improvement after just one treatment. In some cases, a second 'booster' session may be needed 15–24 months later to further thicken new hair growth. More than two sessions within a 3–5 year period are not recommended, as over-treatment may lead to scalp inflammation and    hair shedding.

Benefits of the TrichoStem® Hair Regeneration typically last 3-5 years, or even longer. For younger men with more acute DHT-sensitivity, a DHT-blocker like finasteride is also needed for maximum effectiveness and longevity of results as TrichoStem® Hair Regeneration is not a DHT-blocker. For men who opt to not take the prescribed DHT-blocker as part of their treatment plan, benefits may not last long, and the treatment may not be as effective. Women, and older men with less acute DHT-sensitivity have achieved 3-5 years or more of benefit from TrichoStem® Hair Regeneration without a DHT-blocker, but male patients are still prescribed a DHT-blocker for maximum results.

People who have tried PRP scalp injections for hair loss, including our own patients, have complained about frequent treatment sessions every 1-3 months, no clear end of treatment, little to no results, and not being able to sustain improved hair growth long-term.  

TrichoStem® Hair Regeneration is more effective than PRP alone as PRP is not its main ingredient. PRP is used in TrichoStem® Hair Regeneration as the activator of the main ingredient Acellular matrix, an advanced wound healing material. This combination treatment has achieved thicker, and longer hair growth in over 99% of patients, needing only 1-2 treatment sessions, with benefits lasting 3-5 years, or even more. PRP alone cannot achieve comparable results, success rate, long-term effectiveness, or convenience of TrichoStem® Hair Regeneration.

There is no risk of adverse side effects of the TrichoStem® Hair Regeneration treatment. The wound healing material extracellular matrix by ACell is considered a device, and not a drug, but received US FDA clearance in 2016. Other components like platelet-rich plasma, and vitamin D are also not considered as drugs. Patients may feel some scalp tenderness the day after treatment. It is part of the normal hair growth cycle for thinning hair to shed before thicker hair grows in its place to achieve the desired result.
